As a graduate of the Tom Rose School of Dog Training professional program, Derrick is certified to instruct in several different areas of training. Derrick has had over 25 years of training and competition experience. He has had experience with the wide array of breeds and mixed breeds and has had the opportunity to work through many complicated issues to help dogs and owners have stress-free, enjoyable relationships with each other. Derrick’s method is based off the sound principle of predatory behavior, respecting the dog’s basic instincts while still allowing owners to modify training to fit their lifestyle and goals. This highly successful method revolves around teaching the dog to seek the right answers.
One of Derrick’s favorite personal achievements is having had the privilege to own, train, and show the youngest Alaskan Malamute to obtain the Companion Dog title in breed history. He has also trained and shown two of the highest scoring Alaskan Malamutes in the country in novice obedience and two of the youngest Malamutes to receive Rally titles.
